This private villa project located along the Mediterranean coast is situated between an open garden and an infinity pool. We have completed the 2024 whole house custom furniture project for it, creating a private residence that perfectly blends modern luxury with natural landscapes. - Coping with humid climate
- The climate in the Mediterranean is warm and humid, so the primary challenge we face is how to choose moisture resistant and mold resistant materials to ensure long-term stability of outdoor and indoor furniture.
- Irregular architectural layout
- Due to the unique layout and irregular spatial planning of villa buildings, especially in the transition between the swimming pool and indoor space, we need to find a suitable way to cleverly integrate the layout of these areas and avoid any visual sense of fragmentation.
- Balance between high privacy and openness
- How to ensure privacy while smoothly connecting public areas with outdoor spaces is the key to design. It is necessary to ensure a natural transition between indoor space and external landscape in the design, while not affecting the privacy of private spaces such as bedrooms.
Solutions – A Custom "Surgery" from "Furniture" to "Spatial Organs"
After on-site surveys, our design team proposed a core concept: "Abandon the independent 'furniture' mindset and create a 'furniture ecosystem' that coexists with the architectural space."
Solution 1: Seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces
We have designed a large area glass folding door facing the swimming pool, which can be fully opened and naturally connected to the external space. By combining high-performance furniture designed specifically for outdoor use, such as modular sofas that are sun resistant and waterproof, we have successfully achieved a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. All outdoor furniture undergoes special processing to ensure its stability and durability in humid environments.
Solution 2: Design adapted to humid climates
Considering the climate characteristics of the Mediterranean region, we have selected solid wood materials that have undergone special moisture-proof treatment, such as high-quality oak and teak, for all indoor furniture. These woods not only have natural textures, but also can effectively resist the effects of high humidity climates after modern processing, ensuring the long-term stability of furniture.
Solution 3: Personalized functional space customization
To meet the needs of homeowners, we have tailored exclusive furniture and functional designs for each space in the villa. For example, the walk-in closet is designed with a precision partitioned storage system, equipped with glass door display cabinets, enhancing the storage function and visual sense of the space. The study room has been customized with a full wall bookshelf and a suspended desk, maximizing the use of space corners and maintaining a clean sense of space. The headboard of the bedroom is made of a combination of leather soft packaging and hidden light strips, creating a comfortable and warm resting atmosphere.
Solution 4: Exquisite Integration of Materials and Craftsmanship
We carefully selected high-quality local teak, imported leather, and natural stone, and created a unique aesthetic effect through the comparison and matching of materials. All woodworking details adopt traditional mortise and tenon structure technology to ensure the stability and durability of the furniture. At the same time, the metal components have undergone professional rust prevention treatment to ensure their adaptability to the humid environment of the swimming pool area.
